What is a Tithe?
The word "tithe" literally means tenth or 10%. Tithing, or giving ten percent of your income, isn't merely giving something to God. It's giving back what was His to begin with. All that we have and hope to have, comes from Him.
Why do we Give/Tithe?
The New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We are to give as we are able. Sometimes that means giving more than 10 percent; sometimes that may mean giving less. Giving depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the church. Every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom in the matter of participating in tithing and/or how much to give “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5. Above all, all tithes and offerings should be given with pure motives and an attitude of worship to God and service to the body of Christ. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” 2 Corinthians 9:7.
How Can I Tithe?
We are all called to live abundant lives of service and giving that reflect God’s generosity and abundance. So what do we do with the blessings God has given us? God has called us to give generously (Deuteronomy 15:10), and in it says that God loves a cheerful giver (see above, 2 Corinthians 9:7). Through the ministries of Grace Hills Covenant Church, you can give with confidence knowing your gifts are wise investments in God’s mission throughout our community, surrounding areas, and the world.
