Grace Hills Family-

This letter is sent to you with a mixture of emotion. It is sent with deep love for each of you, with sadness that often accompanies change, and with joy in trusting in God’s plan for our lives. These describe some of the emotions I feel as I share with you my decision to resign as Pastor of Grace Hills Covenant Church.

This has not been an easy decision for me and my family, as our love for you, for this church, and for this community are as strong as ever. It is hard to determine when, if ever, is a good time to step away from pastoral ministry. However, Melanie and I have both sensed God calling us to step out on faith and follow Him in a new direction. This decision comes after many weeks of prayer, and after meeting with a variety of colleagues and mentors in ministry. Though we do not have a definitive location for our next call into ministry, the most likely scenario will have us moving to a new community where I will seek opportunities in Chaplaincy. And so today we are humbly asking for your support and understanding in this decision we have made.

I met with the Leadership Team on Wednesday, September 16 and expressed my desire to resign. During that meeting our Leadership Team was very gracious and understanding, and encouraging to me and my family. I am deeply grateful for the grace, love and support of our Leadership Team - past and present. And, I am confident in the strength and resilience of the members of this church to walk through this season of transition and into new seasons of spiritual growth and fruitfulness. Our prayer is to hear of your continued involvement in the life of Grace Hills Covenant Church in the months and years ahead.

Over the past 10 wonderful years, you have entrusted me and my family with your lives, and for this we are forever grateful. During this season of ministry we have had the great privilege of standing with you in the waters of baptism, during weddings, during funerals and graveside services, and during communion and worship. We have shared laughs and tears, and many cups of coffee and meals together. Our hearts are full of meaningful memories that we will carry with us as we follow God’s voice where He leads us next. Throughout the next several weeks of transition, we will be doing everything we can to support and assist our Leadership Team and our church family. Sunday, November 22 will be our final Sunday at Grace Hills.

The greatest story of this time in all of our lives is the story of God working to redeem and restore His people. What God has accomplished in the lives of people at Grace Hills over the past decade is truly remarkable. God has been, and He promises always to be, faithful to complete His work of transformation in the lives of His children. It is our prayer that, as God’s beloved children, we all stay committed as followers of Jesus, because the one thing that matters most in this life is to abide in the love of Jesus! So, may we remain in Christ’s love and stay committed to prayer as we trust in God’s faithfulness to lead us on by the power of His Holy Spirit.

We love you all very much!

Dusty & Melanie Bach

MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

We, as the leadership team, affirm Pastor Dusty's announcement and are encouraged that God is leading him in a direction to continue to use his gifts in Chaplaincy. We are fully supportive and applaud Dusty for his decision to use his gifts to share the love of God.

We are so very grateful for Dusty's example of Christ honoring leadership, dedication, devotion, and commitment that he has blessed us with over the past 10 plus years and look forward to watching as God grows him further in his future ministerial roles. While we are grieving his leaving, we are confident and trust that God is with HIS church and will guide Grace Hills in the coming months. In addition, we are working closely with the Pacific Southwest Conference of the ECC (Evangelical Covenant Church) as they help us navigate this journey.

We look forward to our Grace Hills family coming together as we pray over the future of our church and listen to God's prompting on how best to serve the needs within our congregation and the Angels Camp community. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to any one of us. Our emails are listed below.

Prayerfully yours,

GH Leadership Team
